Sameeksha Pavaskar

ABA Tutor & Trainee Supervisor

Hi, my name is Sameeksha (Sam)! I work as an ABA tutor in this wonderful and diverse city of London. Through my work, I am glad to be making an active difference in the lives of little ones and families.

I grew up in the city of Mumbai back in India, which is an ethnically and culturally diverse country. As a child, I grew up in an extended family where caring and sharing were important values that were inculcated in me. My life experiences helped harbour in me the dream of working in a profession where I would positively impact the lives of children.

Therefore, I decided to take up psychology at the University of Mumbai for my undergraduate education with the aim of understanding the way we think and how our thoughts influence our actions. On obtaining an excellent foundation in psychology, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, where I learnt how to diagnose clients for different mental health conditions. While pursuing my master’s degree, I interned in the paediatric unit of a special needs hospital and came across Applied Behaviour Analysis whilst working there. Watching the positive difference that it created on the lives of people made it appealing to me as a career. After my first master’s degree, I worked at an ABA clinic in Mumbai, where I was spellbound on observing the impact that ABA had on children with Autism.

I moved to North Wales in 2019 to specialise further in ABA and studied for a master’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis at Bangor University. On gaining a solid foundation in the subject, I moved to London and started working with children and adults with Autism. I gained experience in using PECS, behaviour management, developing play and language skills. During this period, I also realised that I was inclined towards Early Intervention and thus, my exciting adventure at The Children’s Place began. I am currently developing the necessary competencies for taking my career to the next stage as a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).

Outside of work, I really enjoy going around London and experiencing the diverse cultures within this city. I enjoy trying new cuisines, cooking and travelling.
